Ampache is a Web-based Audio file manager. It is implemented with MySQL, and PHP. It allows you to view, edit, and play your audio files via the web. It has support for playlists, artist and album views, album art, random play, playback via Http/On the Fly Transcoding and Downsampling, Vote based playback, Mpd and Icecast, Integrated Flash Player, as well as per user themes and song play tracking. You can also Link multiple Ampache servers togeather using XML-RPC. Ampache supports GETTEXT translations and has a full translation of many languages

mpd

Music Player Daemon (MPD) allows remote access for playing music (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, AAC, Mod, and wave files) and managing playlists. MPD is designed for integrating a computer into a stereo system that provides control for music playback over a local network. It is also makes a great desktop music player, especially if you are a console junkie, like frontend options, or restart X often.

* Home directory of user mpd, as well as default locations in mpd.conf have
* been changed to /var/lib/mpd, please bear that in mind while updating
* your mpd.conf file.
* If you are upgrading from 0.11.x, check the configuration file carefully,
* the format has changed. See the example config file installed as
* /usr/share/doc/mpd-0.12.1/mpdconf.example.bz2, and mpd.conf manual page.

* Please make sure that MPD's pid_file is set to /var/run/mpd/mpd.pid.
